Lionville is a census-designated location in Uwchlan Township of Chester County, Pennsylvania. It sits about an hour outside of the city of Philadelphia, making it both a convenient trip to and from the busyness of the city. Bisected by two major highways, the hub of Lionville allows for easy access to the surrounding towns of Chester County. As of the 2010 census, Lionville boasted a population of 6,189 people, many of which make up the working middle class.
Lionville’s original name was Welsh Pool when it was founded in the 18th century. The name was changed to honor the Red Lion Inn, a major asset to the town’s economy and history.
A portion of Lionville along Village Avenue is a protected historic district. This part of Lionville features many 18th and 19th century homes and structures, one of which is the Friends Meetinghouse. The meetinghouse was used as a hospital for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War at Valley Forge.
